Equipment
The equipment we use for our younger groups (children ages 3 to 12) are 2 different kinds of low compression balls. We encourage them to use rackets ranging from 19 to 26 inches in length. We also have the portable nets which are lower then the standard nets and make the game scaled to the size of the child.
If you are not sure what size of racket you should get for your child, please have a look below:
19 inch racquet for age 3
21 inch racquet for 3 to 4 year olds
23 inch racquet for 4 to 6 year olds
25 inch racquet for 7 to 10 year olds
All children grow at a different rate so these sizes are approximations for their age. To find the proper size for a racket, the child should place the racket under their arm. The racket should be the same length as the child’s arm from armpit to fingertips. If the finger tips go past the end of the racket then it is too small. If the fingertips don't reach the top of the racket then the racket is too big. Always keep in mind that it is okay to have a racquet that is slightly bigger as the child will grow into it.
The cost of a racquets is $31.50 (tax included), please contact us to receive our discount if you wish to purchase more then 3 racquets.
To purchase a racket please contact us by phone at (403) 969-5003 or by submitting an inquiry through the Contact Us page.

Meet the Coaches
Our people are among the most talented in the industry. It would be our pleasure to put our extensive experience to work for you.
Jelena Tomasovic (Head Coach)
As a 7-time Alberta Provincial Champion over the years, formerly ranked No. 1 in Alberta in both junior tennis and the Alberta Women’s Open, Jelena has developed her love for the sport through playing and coaching. Receiving her Instructor Certificate at the age of 15, making her the youngest instructor at that time to ever be certified in Canada, Jelena now has over 15 years of experience coaching adults, teens, and children.
Jelena’s coaching highlights include training top provincial players, along with one provincial champion and provincial finalists. She enjoys coaching both competitive and recreational players because she likes seeing progress within players of all levels. Being involved in the sport for 20+ years, Jelena enjoys passing on her knowledge to others who wish to give this amazing sport a try.
The coach’s own tennis career started at the age of 9 when she first picked up a racket. A couple years later, appearing at the Alberta Provincial Championships for the first time, she goes on to take the provincial title. With experience training internationally in countries as far as Australia, the United States (Florida), and Serbia, Jelena knows exactly what a good academy consists of. Having competed in many countries through Central America, Jelena had reached No. 508 in the world on the Junior International Tennis Federation (ITF) ranking list.
In 2010, the head coach decided to put her own roots down in Calgary, Alberta, she called her idea and still does today, Advantage Tennis Academy. Coaching children would be Jelena's strong point mostly because she can explain concepts in ways that children as young as 3 years old are even able to understand. Coaching high performance players is her passion due to the discipline, determination, and hard work she gets to see every minute of the time she and her player step onto the court.
Jelena looks forward to introducing the sport to underprivileged and disabled children.
